Housing: Chinese box turtles are semi-aquatic so an enclosure outside with a pond is recommended. For inside, a half aquatic set up with an area for basking in a tank between 30-55 gallons. The tank needs a shallow area of water about 3-8 inches deep, with the water temperature between 75-80ºF. Make sure the temperature does not drop below 75ºF at night! The basking area should have full spectrum UVB lighting and be maintained at 85-90ºF. Humidity in the tank should be between 60-70% during the day. Avoid sand, bark, walnut shells, and millet or anything small enough to be ingested by your Chinese box turtle.
Diet: The chinese box turtle is omnivorous but has a strong preference for vegetables. Dark, leafy greens are healthy choices for your turtle.
